“We Wish We Had.” 4 Reasons Couples Regret Not Hiring a Wedding Videographer.

Your wedding day is one of the most anticipated days of your life. You spend countless hours planning it, and the last thing you want is to walk away with regrets. One of the biggest things couples (including myself!) wish they’d had on their wedding day is a wedding video.
As a documentary style wedding videographer in Iowa, I capture the authentic moments of your day so you can relive them for years to come. Not a quick clip. Not a still photo. A meaningful wedding film that encapsulates the feeling of your day.
If you’re on the fence, here are the four biggest reasons couples regret not hiring a wedding videographer.

1.They Never Get To Hear Their vows Again
Now, don’t get me wrong. I know your vows are something you’ll never forget, whether they’re documented or not. But what about the exact words your spouse used, the crack in their voice as they made their promises, or the single tear that slipped down their cheek as they listened?
Maybe you’ll keep the books you wrote your vows in. Maybe you’ll be able to read them to each other again years down the road, but it’s not the same. It’s missing the emotions, sentimentality, and reactions of the day.
The only way to hold onto those? Hiring a wedding videographer that includes sound in their film.
Curious what a wedding film can actually sound like?
The shaky “I love you.” The laughter, the cheers that bring you right back. Browse the gallery to see (and hear) the difference!
2.There Are Parts Of Their Day They Know They Missed
Your wedding day is going to be fully booked. You’ll be busy with setting up, getting ready, portraits, and so much more. Meanwhile, there’s a ton going on behind the scenes, interactions and moments that you’ll undoubtedly miss.
An embrace between your grandfather and mother as they reminisce about the day he gave his little girl away. The laughter between your groomsmen as they inevitably get into some sort of trouble. Smiles between a flower girl and ring bearer as they prepare to make their way down the aisle.
If you want to see those real, authentic interactions you missed, hire a wedding videographer!
3.There's No Other Way to Truly Relive Their Day
The fastest day of your life is going to be your wedding day. All that time you spent planning it, and it’ll be done in the blink of an eye. Years later, you’ll want to go back and experience the day all over again.
Wedding photos are a great way to catch a glimpse of that, but the only way to truly relive your wedding is with a wedding film. To hear the sounds, see the sights, and feel the emotions all over again. Wedding photography and wedding videography are a perfect mix to help you freeze the memories and bring them back to life.
Wanting a way to relive your wedding day for years to come? Book a wedding videographer that creates timeliness wedding films.

4.They Put Money Before Memories
It’s no secret. Planning a wedding is expensive. In the midst of wedding planning, it’s easy to see the numbers and cut anything out that you feel is “extra”. But that’s also the easiest way to have regrets about your big day because those are often the things we treasure the most.
You spent all this money on a beautiful dress, amazing florals, and specific decor. You want to remember what those things looked like, but more importantly how they made you feel.
The look of adoration when your spouse sees your dress for the first time. The way the flickering candles made your venue feel like a fairytale. The sound of clinking glasses and people chanting for you to kiss. All these things you spent money on that will be lost with time if you don’t have a wedding film.
Don’t lose those moments. Hold onto the feeling forever by including a wedding film in your wedding budget.

A Wedding Videographer's Own Wedding Regret.
In March of 2025 I married the love of my life. I didn’t know how expensive weddings truly were until I was in the midst of planning my own. After making the guest list, picking the vendors, and choosing a dress, I wanted to cut costs anywhere else I could. So, I chose not to hire a videographer (ironic, I know).
Now, I still think back on my wedding day with the utmost joy. It was perfect, and I often say to my husband, "I wish we had a way to live it all over again". If I had hired a wedding videographer, we could.
